maples in fall

The first two are French maples, Acre monspessulanum. The second one qualifies as shohin.
The others are shohin Japanese maples, Acer plamatum.

Hi Walter,

Love this little maple. I have a stump that I think would suit this style, Excuse my ignorance, is it safe to just go ahead and carve out the trunk in this fashion? It's spring for me in Australia.

Regards
David
