spruces after collecting

A few weeks ago I showed how we collect spruce. Some may have wondered about the time of the year. Collecting at the beginning of June? Her some recent developments. All trees are still alive, One is severely struggling. We had four days with full sunshine and heat, but 17 days with rain. This is perfect for the new trees.

Collected ten years ago and growing vigorously.

Collected four weeks ago and doing fine. This one will definitely live.

Collected two weeks ago in 2009. many of the buds were burned during four days with full sunshine and heat. But then there came more and this tree will survive althogh struggling.

collected in September 2007 and developing normally.

Collected in September 2008 and doing extremely well already.

Well,

teh cows are only ther NOW, by end of June. They eat the new growth at this time. So I collect in fall after teh cows are gone or in spring before the cows come.
