European spruce # 54

Finally I wired the thing a second time. A couple of weeks ago I showed it after the wire came off and I had throughly edited the crown. Someone critisized me for having taken of too much. I admit it looked like it. But now one can see that with my kind of styling the crown looks like it has enough foliage again. I think it does not need much more in the future. Now the wire will stay on another three years. And then we'll see. The last image is a virtual showing the same pot by Peter Krebs, only much smaller. Maybe next spring I will find the smaller pot for it.

European spruce, Picea abies, collected by peter Thali in in Switzerland 2001, around 100 years old, pot by Peter Krebs, 30 cm high.

Walter, this is one hell-of-a spruce with lots of caracter. This is a powerful and masculine tree in my vision and I like it very much. I believe that in the future, this doesn't need to have lot of greenery in the crown, just to enhance its powerful trunk.
Great material!

Walter,

Very nice styling.... good learning experience, whatever one can get from two dimensional pics.
