maple development

This is one of my trident maples. They look like this all summer. The new growth gets cut back pretty soon on top and I leave the growth on the lower branches. This makes it look untidy. But it strengthens the lower branches. Be end of December/beginning of October i cut back. Many of my deciduous trees look like balls in summer. This is normal for trees which are meant to look good in winter silhouette.
