Mugo pine #54

Mugo pine, Pinus mugo, collected in 2009. The styling became part of a video that Uwe made yesterday. Walter did most of the work. This will be shohin size eventually.
A little toad had it's home under the tree. Sorry to spoil you home, toad.

Hello Walter,

last weekend I just removed the old needles of some sylvestris I have. I would have been able to reduce the length of the green due to existing buds and candles which appeared this spring...
but I thought twice because a possible sap-loss.
Now seeing you styling and cutting your Mugo´s and Spruce´s... what is your opinion/experience regarding this?
The winters are very different in our two countries, but is there any big influence now (D/PT)?

Thanks in advance for your precious time.
Nelson

Neolson,

as you can tell I don't share your fears. There are fairly good times, good times, bad times and very bad times to work on pines. Now is a fairly good time. I have to work on all trees all year round. You can choose to wait until middle of July to do this.
