Finally I wired the thing a second time. A couple of weeks ago I showed it after the wire came off and I had throughly edited the crown. Someone critisized me for having taken of too much. I admit it looked like it. But now one can see that with my kind of styling the crown looks like it has enough foliage again. I think it does not need much more in the future. Now the wire will stay on another three years. And then we'll see. The last image is a virtual showing the same pot by Peter Krebs, only much smaller. Maybe next spring I will find the smaller pot for it.
European spruce, Picea abies, collected by peter Thali in in Switzerland 2001, around 100 years old, pot by Peter Krebs, 30 cm high.
Walter Pall's main blog about bonsai and his work with trees from day to day. Lots of good pictures of good trees and lots of valuable information about bonsai.

Spruce by Alex
spruce # 20
The spruce in the wooden pot
Roland Koepfer had shown his wooden pots in the German bonsai forum some time ago. They tore him to pieces. I seemed to have been the only one who saw some value in wooden pots. So he gave two to me. Here is one with a collected European spruce, Picea abies which is around 100 years old and 60 cm high.
