new shohin mugo

Last weekend Roman brought this mugo pine to the tree critique. I said that it would be a good idea to make a very small bonsai from it. But another option was a larger cascade. Anyway, Roman did not really feel to work on it. So I asked whether he wold trade it. So it found it's way into my garden. I did first styling. Now it still looks a bit awkward. I will stop now and probably continue in late summer. The tree did not seem to be extremely well established. So it is better to work stepwise. Roman, are feeling a bit sorry now?

new growth on maples

Since it was so cold the new growth took more than four weeks. But now it comes vigorously.

spruce #48

This spruce got the first major styling last year. It was quite wide on purpose. Now it is very healthy and it was reduced considerably to become a more slim tall tree.

Most new shoots were shortened with scissors. The thick wire was removed. The thin wires are left. it takes decades virtually until a spruce accepts a new shape. This will probably be exhibited this fall. Maybe at bonasiautumn.

oriental hornbeam #2 looking good

Oriental hornbeam, Carpinus orientalis today and three months ago. This species has very nice small leaves and very good bark and structure.

hibiscus rebounding nicely

Three weeks after total defoliation and repotting the hibiscus is coming nicely.
