the Austrian black pine that thinks it is a ponderosa - part 1
This is an Austrian black pine, Pinus nigra austriaca, collected in Austria in the Alps around five years ago. I got this one last year a trade. This is extremely unusual for an Austrian black pine. Ponderosa pines look similar quite often. Anyway, the former onwer somehow wanted togeet rid of it and I gladly took it, having had extensive experience with treating ponderosas like this. It was very weak and even the foliage looked like so many ponderosas look - pathetic. So the main task was to feed it agressibvely, water it a lot an leave it in full sun to become strong again.
