European spruce #32

European spruce, Picea abies, collected in Germany in 1991. First two images before and after first styling in 1994. By now this tree has definitely gained maturity.

Hi Walter,

This is a very interesting design. The lowest left branch flies in the face of traditional bonsai design, with the branch placement on the tree being low on the trunk, and then dipping below the rim of the pot, but I find it intriguing. Part of me want to cut it off, but part of me see's it as a natural possibility fitting into the design naturally. It poses an interesting internal struggle with me between what I am use to seeing as traditional and what I see in nature.

Thanks for the post.
