Robert Steven won with his great casuarina. Congratulations Robert for the best bonsai taste. After all it was NOT a contest about the best and most impressive bonsai, it was about the best combination tree an pot. But somehow one can get the feeling that the more than 25 intenational judges have lost sight of this somehow during all these months.

Why is it that the same names always appear upfront in bonsai contests? Well, the same phenomenon apears in sports. Unfair?

For months Wolfgang's trident maple in Horst's pot was leading the field by far. I know since a long time that I could not win this contest. But I thought it was definitely for sure that Wolfgang would win it. It would have stayed in the family somehow. Well, Robert is part of that family too.
