new hawthorn

Collected European hawthorn, Crataegus monogyna. This one looks quiet promising. I cannot wait for beginning of April to start wiring the branches.

Nice material. Regarding wiring - would it not save time to do it now, even though there's no benefit to be had until the growing season starts?

It would be a serious mistake to wire now. No deciduous tree should be wired after end of September in this climate. Otherise one looses many branches and often the whole tree in winter. Hawthorns are quite weak trees in winter anyway. Many die from frost in my climate without any styling or re-potting before.
