Spruce #56 first part

European spruce, Picea abies, collected in Austria in the Alps in 2003. In 2006 I got it as seen on the first images. In Summer of 2010 Kolja and Walter worked it after we cut it small ruthlessly. The last two images are virtuals to see the future.

You have an amazing tree but, to me, the imposed rock slab has me thinking that the tree is to top heavy. The large pot prior too looks more proportionate to the size of the foliage. This is just my opinion. A wide flat pot seems to help my eye imagine the mountains within and behind the spruce. The stone takes my imagination away from me and doesn’t help with the overall picture. Again, just my opinion but I believe all trees need some things to be absent even if our minds tell us otherwise. I feel that the tree, not having the stone, makes me want to look for it and that’s why I like the tree so much. I have to imagine the big picture and that is why I think the tree is so great.
