two small maples

Two Japanese maples, Acer palmatum, shohin. The fist one has doubled in girth and the pot has become way too small.

Beautiful maples, Walter. Do you use any kind of preservative/wood hardener to prevent additional rotting inside the hollow trunks of deciduous trees like the maple?

Thanks,

Al

Al,
sometimes I do. but usually I do nothing at all. I WANT the inside to rot to get e deep natural hollow trunk. The tree does NOT mind, it does not harm to the tree contrary to public conviction. Healthy trees NEVER die of hollow rotting trunks.
