hornbeams

European hornbeam, Carpinus betulus. Both collected. The first one on the zenith of it's development after more than twenty years and the second one pretty much in the beginning still.

Obviously Mr. Pall will not agree, but I would love to see the more advanced tree without the lower left branch.

I dont agree either!! The lower left is absolutely essential. The tree would be totally unbalanced and top heavy without it!!

Perhaps true by standard bonsai rules. But I think it would acquire much more movement and grace. Also, that is not an attractive branch at all in and of itself.

Left branch is excellent. Tree is just perfect, I like that energy in the crown!
