the huge new trident maple - part 3
As expected it was found that a considerable part of the nebari was hidden below the soil surface. All fine roots above a the future soil like are cut off. Then one can see on the first pictures that there were big humps in the nebari. These were carved with a strong die grinder. 80 % of all roots had to go. This is normal with such trees btw. A new pot was found. This is not the final pot, but it is the right size and general shape. A part of the top was cut off to get rid of the old-fashioned sharp triangle there. A trident maple should always have a rounded top.
