Here the deadwood after burnig with a small torch and brushing with a hard brass brush. After these shots I have painted the deadwood with a slight dilution of lime sulphur.

hi, what purpose does burning the deadwood with a torch have, before cleaning with a brush?
the fire burns away the makes of men. after brushing the structure of the deadwood comes out nicely. And in addition the fire sterilizes and hardens the deadwood. It is also for protection. The dark color is OK: Deadwood does not HAVE to be white like painted with chalk.
