Hi Walter

Great larches!
Do you remove the wire before winter? Even guywires?

Best regards
Nils

Nils,

no, I don't remove wires from larches before winter. Guy wires certainly not.
But I do avoid wiring larches in late summer, fall or winter. If I did wire them then they would loose a lot of branches. Larches shculd only be wired in spring.

Hi Walter, nice larches for sure...

How do you overwinter your more tender plants, i.e. japanese/trident maples? I know that you don't give your native plants any special treatment, but what about the more tender plants?

Thanks, can't wait for more snowy pictures.

Aaron,
I put the more tender trees into a cold greenhouse. All trees go off the stands and will be placed on the gound. This is the minumum protection. Many will be put under the benches, some close to the eastern and northern walls of the house.
