The next generation of literati trees
All
these are Scots Pines, Pinus sylvestris, which were collected last
spring in Sweden. In my eyes they are extremely good material for
literati. I will leave them alone for another year. They will be watered
a lot and aggressively fed. The new growth will be much stronger than
the one form the habitat. At the same time the root pad will develop.
Next spring they will be ready to go into smaller pots or even onto
stones right away. Most folks would fist finish the crown. This is the
last thing that I will do. It can be done in 30 minutes on these trees
and is not a big deal, but makes a big difference.. The challenge is to
bring out the ancient beauty and elegance of the trunks.
