The boys work hard on hornbeams

As part of the Easter internship within the International Bonsai Academy Walter, Kolja and Philipp learn how to treat very raw collected deciduous trees professionally. These are oriental hornbeams. Walter has more experience and leads the process.
The trees will now be left alone and let grow freely. They will be cut back twice this and next season. Then they will be ready for serious detail styling.
No wood conservation is necessary at this point. It is state of the art to not use ANYTHING to protect the wounds.
