These are all oriental hornbeam, Carpinus orientalis. These trees and many similar ones will be here in my garden at my Late Summer Meeting on Saturday, August 28. Most of these will be available for trade or sale. This species is one of the best for bonsai. They are hardy. I had a dozen in my garden without protection this last winter and there were no problems. The new growth is phenomenal. The ramification is great. The character of trunk and branches is enormous. It is very difficult to kill one. This is ideal bonsai material.
