winter thoughts

Besides still making fall photos this is is the time of the year when there is not much to do in the garden. Now is the time to contemplate changes of some trees. This trident maple found it's way into my garden this past summer. I did not have too much time to study it without foliage. Now I have decided to make the crown quite larger, making the bonsai look like a real maple.

1) as of now
2) these are the dimensions of the future crown. The pot will be too small
3) with a bigger pot it looks fine. Decision made!

Is this the tree that you debated cutting the forward branch on? Will it be cut?

Yes, that's the one. I will certainly NOT cut the branch. This is a natural informal broom form which I am going to enhance. It must have branches upfront, otherwise it would apppear contrived. This is a treee for the winter silhouette. It does not matter whether one jsut sees a ball of green in the summer. Summer is nto his time.
