Would you consider cutting off the two large branches and consequently developing the right side anew?

That's the very last thing I would do. I would castrate the tree. It would be just another log with big scars and no movement. This is Fairy Tale Bonsai Style. It's perfect as it is.

It could as well be a fairytale style, as you call it. But as far as bonsai goes, it's bullsh*t style. It's a last refuge of a self-proclaimed skill. Sadly.

Oh, and regarding castration... I didn't know that bonsai was a sexual thing. If it was, you would've had to abandon it, say, a quarter of a century ago.

Oh, and one last thing. Perfection. It would've been (even more) perfect left alone, in the wild, not all (artificially) tuned up in a pot. That's kitch, not perfection.
