Oriental hornbeam #45

This species was almost not known about seven years ago. By now around the world the great oriental hornbeams from Croatia have become famous. They come from a Mediterranean climate but are hardy in Central Europe with normal winter protection. They like to be a bonsai. This is a great additon to the species we can use for good bonsai.
This particular one is, of course, in the Fairiy Tale Bonsai Style again. It is still more or less raw material, but with great potential. In spring the tree will be wired for the first time.

great tree species offcourse, and relatively new yes, but i very much regret the fact that the flood of this new species in the scene is the yamadori trees, which means you can promote the use of the tree as a species for bonsai but one can hardly applaude the fact that this now (in this moment) means that many trees are just ripped out of nature, in quite unique and pristine environment in croatia. This is, what I know of this species and its main habitats there. In stead of yamadori-ing, we need this species to be 'cultivated' and propagated in the broader cultivation scene. Lets not all start asking: where can I get this Orienteal hornbeams from croatia...
