European spruce, Picea abies, 90 cm high, more than 100 years old, pot by Derek Aspinall.

Hi Walter,
Kinda hard to tell since we can't see the rootage, but from the pictures I don't see what you gain with the rotation. Also the rotation makes the upper left jin "poke you in the eye more" which I don't care for. Still a remarkable tree though. Just my opinion, but I am not sure the "purple color" of the pot is quite right.

Robert,

the pot is not really purple. It is jsut slightly purple on my screen which has been calibated. This comes from photoshop. Otherwise this picture with snow would be quite unsightly.
You may have to change your screen's calibration possibly.

Anyway, the tree will be potted onto a huge flat stone in May. If I get that stone.
The stone will not be very purple, I promise.
