The Hilliari elm, Ulaus campestre 'Hilliari', lost it's crow a couple of years ago. Here the tree as of today and a virtual to see what it would look like with a decent top.
And then the Hokkaido-elm, Ulmus parvifolia 'Hokkaido', looks fine. It is a shohin, smaller than 23 cm.

Scots pines

This one is ready too for the Botanical Garden exhibit.
See the most vigorous growth of my scots pines in the grwoing field. This is due to the agressive feeding scheme. In this case chicken pellets as of last September did the job. Mind you, the growth in spring is due to FEEDING IN AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER !

Fro the Art of Bonsai Awards I had to take some photographs of companion plants. I have no time to care for them day for day. So I prefer plants which will change only very little.

Theas are all shohin, menaing they are smaller than 23 cm. All dwarf honeysuckle, Lonicera nitida.

Japanese Maple group refurbished

This is a Japanese maple (Acer palamtum) clump that I got in a trade yesterday. It was quite neglected during a couple of years. It probably was not repotted correctly, still sitting in the same akadama soil which has decomposed over the years. And then it probably was never fed well. Consequently the group started to die. Many branches were dead and the center tree was almost competely dead. But only almost. So I worked on it for a while and then fed it with a lot of nitrogen. We'll follow the development of this clump. In a cople of years it will shine again. The nebari is fine, the placement of the trunks is OK. The trunks are all rather the same diameter and the center trunk is too thin. This can be corrected by letting the center trunk grow uninhibited for a few years and it will thicken considerably. We'll see.
