more winter

So far we went out to shovel snow around the house, garden and garage five times. This will continue until midnight. The greenhouse broke at one point already. This is NOT a catastrophy! This is pretty normal here.

This is only the beginning. We will have another 30 to 50 cm (20 " 'within the next 24 hours.

five larches

Thursday, February 5, 2009

Three shohin

Three shohin size trees, meaning smaller than 20 cm.

1) Acer monspessulanum, very raw still, but promising
2) Lonicers spec., a wild honeysuckle
3) Spirea from a garden plant

Two larches

These are two old acquaintances. They are quite mature by now, but still need some guy wiring even after 20 years of styling.

Wild cherry refurbished

FinallyI worked a bit on the old deadwood which still showed the hand of man. I think that after this treatment in a year or so one will hardly see that I have worked on it.
Prunus mahaleb, collected in Italy.

European beech in winter

This one (Fagus sylvatica) is quite gnarly. It is for sale or trade, because I have too many.

Bougainvillea in winter

Most folks have bougies just for the flowers. And too many are not good as bonsai really. This one is almost better in winter, I think.
